Community Award Winner 2023 – Over 18 Category

By // April 18th, 2024

Congratulations to our Community Award 2023 Winners in the Over 18 Category – Coity Chiefs Girls Football Club.

The organisation/club itself is run by a group of adults who volunteer and give their time and commitment to coach, provide first aid and background administration to support all the girl players. Not only have the players, parents and members become their own Community, but a valued piece of the wider Community of Coity, Litchard, Pendre and the surrounding areas.

The Club really are ‘a family’ as one of their under 8 girls stated, and a brilliant family at that.

Forty-two new girls/players have been taken on just this season; and two new females have been FAW First Aid trained.

So, the community benefit from the opportunities provided to both the girl players, to the volunteer positions and training provided to the adults; and of course, spreading the ‘Coity’ name amongst the extra-curricular events organised and sporting venues across all the league and match destinations.

Ben Jackson (Chair), Leeann Bekker (Secretary & CSO), Shaun Horrex (Coach & CSO) and Katrina Wheeler (Press and Communications Officer) were presented with a large engraved shield to keep for a year, a small shield to put in their trophy cabinet, some gifts of flowers and wine.   They can all be seen in the photo below with the Chair of Coity Higher Community Council, Councillor Alan Wathan.
