Three deserving nominations were received this year and the winner was Mr Hopkin Thomas who has served the community as a Councillor for the Pendre Ward for  33 years and as Chair of Coity Higher Community Council serving all 3 wards of Coity, Litchard and Pendre for 23 of those years.  Attached is a photo of the Community Council’s Vice-Chair, Councillor Martin Williams (to the right of the picture below), presenting Mr Thomas with the Community Award Shield.

Mr Thomas was always a fair and impartial Chair, he rarely missed a meeting and worked hard in his role both inside and outside meetings, and carried out many other voluntary roles in the Bridgend community. He was dedicated to the success of the Community Council and equally to the well-being of the communities of Coity, Litchard and Pendre, and the people the Community Council serve.
